Monitise Africa is a new venture which Monitise is developing to deliver a long term sustainable mobile banking and payments service across the region.
The service is expected to let citizens in a number of countries use their mobile phones to save money, make payments, transfer funds, and deposit and withdraw cash.
Monitise Africa is actively engaging merchant organisations, financial institutions and mobile network providers to develop services.
The venture has the support of the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund, which has awarded Monitise Africa $1.5million to help bring mobile money to the people.
